The 24,000 RPM water cooled spindle is now fully operational on the Taig Micro-Mill. This 1 horsepower spindle is certainly far more power than is required. Cutting my wax masters it is operating at 1/10 hp. Gosh, only ten times more power available than needed. Nothing wasted though, as the VFD does a great job at regulating power consumption.

It is certainly as huge speed improvement over the stock Taig belt drive spindle. I will be the first to admit that there is certain;ly nothing wrong with the stock spindle other than it top rotational speed at 10.000 RPM.

I am cutting wax at 15,000 RPM at 50% more travel speed than with the Taig stock spindle. Chip size is excellent.

The spindle I chose is a four bearing. Two bearings on each end of the shaft. This combination provides for a very stable and accurate rotation. There is absolutely no vibration at any speed all the way up to 24,000 RPM. This is one rock stable spindle installation. Wax carving with a 0.0015 step-over on a 0.0015 ball end tapered mill bit is outstanding.
