The Taig mill bed presents a problem for CNC or manual users who intend to use an electrical "continuity" type Z-height setting gauge. The type that illuminate an LED in the gauge or connect directly to the CNC control system. Here is a link to a solution used in T he Hobbyist's Machine Shop . It discusses the problem illustrates how to solve it. h...

Taig Super Micro-Mill

The 24,000 RPM water cooled spindle is now fully operational on the Taig Micro-Mill. This 1 horsepower spindle is certainly far more power than is required. Cutting my wax masters it is operating at 1/10 hp. Gosh, only ten times more power available than needed. Nothing wasted though, as the VFD does a great job at regulating power consumption. It ...

Email Problems

The RDS store and my entire email system, business and personal, has been suffering with some very unusual problems. I have been using email from the day it was invented and I never had the problems I have experienced in the last few months. Email spam filtering and security has come off the rails. A real train wreck. I don't think it is going to g...

Lost Wax Carving with a Taig CNC Micro-mill

The Taig CNC Micro-mill is a smooth and accurate wax milling system for carving master models for my lost wax cast jewelry creations. Wax carving uses tools with end diameters down to 0.003 inches with step-over of only 20 percent. This requires five passes to cut the width of the tool. Wax carving requires a tremendous amount of movement action fr...

Request for Quote

I have listed most of the common requested equipment packages and components produced by Taig Tools on the RDS website. I do not stock complete machine packages. These maj...

123 Case

DSCN0446 A case for 1-2-3 blocks
Using 3D printing, I created a nice holding-case for precision components. This is a high quality plastic case for 1-2-3 Machine steel blocks. Machinist use these in set-ups and clamping arrangements for milling operations. Or any place a precision dimensioned steel block(s) can be used. They are accurate blocks of steel, perforated with holes, som...

Credit Card Payment

The new payment system (Square) is working very well. Either because it is first on the list or that it simply isn't PayPal, it's getting ALL the use. That's fine with me. It must have been a good decision. PayPal can offer terms, that's monthly payments for those interested. Otherwise, either system system works for me or you.

KautzCraft Collet Boxes

DSC08208 Collet Box
Three D printing creates the ER16 collet boxes sold at RDS. I make them myself. Well, the printer makes them. Once the printer is set up with filament and the design file loaded, it runs without my intervention for three to four hours. Then I pry the completed box and cover off the build plate. I make several bright colors. Orange, red, yellow, and...

New Payment System

RDS has just added (6/10/2018) the SQUARE credit card payment system to the RDS e-Commerce store. This provides an alternative to our long established PayPal process. Some folks have had issues using PayPal. Although we have never discovered a problem in the store software, we have decided to add SQUARE as another path for payment. SQUARE seems to ...
